    What is NPHC?

The NPHC is the governing body for “The Elite Eight” historically African-American fraternities and sororities at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

What organizations are a part of NPHC on ULM’s campus?

Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta

Sororities: Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma RhoZeta Phi Beta

How do I join an NPHC organization?

NPHC organizations have recruitment periods that are determined by the specific organization, not by NPHC. This process is referred to as Membership Intake. Specific requirements vary by organization such as GPA requirements and credit hours needed for eligibility. Check out an organizations local or national website for specific intake requirements.

    What is Membership Intake?

Membership Intake is the process of selecting, educating and initiating new members into an NPHC chapter. This process is prescribed by the national organization.

    What about hazing?

Louisiana law, the ULM Student Code of Conduct, and each of the national fraternities and sororities prohibit all forms of hazing.

How do I find out about the organizations to determine which one I would be interested in joining?

There will be many opportunities for you to interact with the chapters during the fall and spring semesters through programs such as Greek Mixers and NPHC Informational. Get to know the members of the organization through the events that they host throughout the school year. Also be aware that organizations will hold informational meetings throughout the school year separate from the NPHC Informational. These meetings will be Advertised through flyers and on the Greek Calendar here on www.ulmgreeks.com. These meetings will enable one to learn more about an organization, and perhaps get specific intake questions answered.
